ACT signs a new, long-term, exclusive contract with Jan Lundgren – Siggi Loch and Lundgren put pen to paper on September 26th in Stockholm.
Lundgren, who released four albums on ACT between 2005 and 2009, returns to the label on which he celebrated his biggest success – the album “Mare Nostrum” (with Paolo Fresu and Richard Galliano) that, with over 50.000 units sold, ranks among the most successful in ACT’s 22-year history.
Lundgren is part of a tradition of Swedish jazz pianists such as Jan Johansson, Bobo Stensson and Esbjörn Svensson whose style is influenced by traditional Swedish and European Classical music as well as American jazz. Aside from his work as a pianist and composer, Jan Lundgren is founder and artistic director of the “Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival”.
For his second ACT debut, Jan Lundgren will appear as a sideman on “Kind of Cool”, the next album by German drummer & bandleader Wolfgang Haffner, and his concert in the “Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic” series will then be released on December 10th, 2014. His next album as a leader is planned for 2015.
